Joya®
You can count on Joya’s superior performance and sunny disposition to add a little joy to every day.
The striking, red-coloured Joya® apple is an all-round performer, combining an invigorating crunch, with a consistently great taste.
The Joya® apple was originally bred in Western Australia in the 1970s and its parentage is Lady Williams x Golden Delicious. Newer varieties – approved under the brand – achieve a beautiful, striking red hue.
Traditionally performing well with consumers in Western Europe and South Africa, Joya® has seen increased volumes and expansion into new markets, particularly in Asia, thanks to its high colour, exceptional shelf-life and resistance to bruising.
Supporting the brand, is the global management team behind the famous Pink Lady® apple, Twenty Degrees – formerly Apple and Pear Australia Limited (APAL).
In 2024, the Joya® brand was refreshed with a bold new logo, packaging designs and brand positioning to celebrate the sunny disposition and joy that Joya® apples brings to your fruit bowl, lunchbox or your backpack.
Joya® branded apples are grown in South Africa, Italy, Spain and France, with trials of new varieties taking place in a number of other countries. These varieties are highly productive to grow – high yield and pack out – and harvested late in the season.
The Joya® sticker is an assurance that each apple has been grown and packed according to high-quality standards.
Last year, over one million cartons of Joya® was distributed across Asia and Europe. Volumes are expected to increase significantly over the next five years as many young trees reach full production.
